Public Cloud PAYG Migration fails zypper migration script died unexpectedly

Situation

When running zypper migration, the following error is returned:

Resolution

A Mass PTF for cloud-regionsrv-client is available here:

https://ptf.suse.com/f2cf38b50ed714a8409693060195b235/sle-module-public-cloud-15-sp3/28553/x86_64/20240823

This is the preferred resolution.

Alternative workaround:

Backdate the cloud-regionsrv-client package to major version 10.1.7:

# zypper in --oldpackage cloud-regionsrv-client-10.1.7-150000.6.108.1

Then refresh zypper and start the migration which should now proceed normally:

# zypper ref
# zypper migration

Cause

This issue was introduced by a bug in cloud-regionsrv-client-10.3.0-150300.13.3.1.

Newly released cloud-regionsrv-client-10.3.0-150300.13.6.1 is also affected. Bug went uncaught before this newer build was released.

Additional Information

Public Cloud Engineering states the fixed package will be released in the next three to four weeks. Please use the PTF in the meantime. (Updated Aug 26, 2024)
