Environment

SUSE Manager 4.3 Server
SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP5

Situation

Highstate against a system (registered to SUSE Manager Server) fails when such system is upgraded to a higher service pack version. When the system is bootstrapped again, it can't obtain the salt-bundle package.

/var/log/rhn/rhn_web_ui.log shows following error:

Resolution

Reinstall the RPM package:

# zypper in rpm

Rebuild the RPM database:

# rpm --rebuilddb
# rpm --initdb
# rpm --rebuilddb

Verify the installed package list using rpm:

# rpm -qa --queryformat "%-35{NAME} %-35{DISTRIBUTION} %{VERSION}-%{RELEASE}\n" | sort -k 1,2 -t " " -i

Cause

Corrupted RPM database on top of affected SUSE Manager Server client.

This is a rare case where the RPM database is corrupted, and repositories are not listed:
