Package conflict during upgrade from SLES 15 SP5 to SLES 15 SP6

Environment

SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 15 SP5 with 'libopenssl-1_1-devel' package installed

Situation

Migration from SLES 15 SP5 to SLES 15 SP6 is failing with a package conflict like the following:
Problem: 1: the to be installed libopenssl-1_1-devel-1.1.1w-150600.3.10.x86_64 conflicts with 'libopenssl-devel > 1.1.1w' provided by the to be installed libopenssl-devel-3.1.4-150600.2.1.noarch
Solution 1: Following actions will be done:
keep obsolete libopenssl-devel-1.1.1l-150400.1.5.noarch
keep obsolete libopenssl1_1-1.1.1l-150500.17.31.1.x86_64
keep obsolete openssl-1.1.1l-150400.1.5.noarch
keep obsolete libopenssl-1_1-devel-1.1.1l-150500.17.31.1.x86_64
keep obsolete openssl-1_1-1.1.1l-150500.17.31.1.x86_64
Solution 2: deinstallation of libopenssl-1_1-devel-1.1.1l-150500.17.31.1.x86_64
Solution 3: deinstallation of libopenssl-devel-1.1.1l-150400.1.5.noarch

 

Resolution

This issue is resolved by uninstalling libopenssl-1_1-devel prior to the upgrade.

Cause

The package 'libopenssl-1_1-devel' conflicts with any version of libopenssl-devel that does not match the version of libopenssl-1_1-devel. 

Additional Information

The conflicts for the package 'libopenssl-1_1-devel' can be viewed by running the following command on the server that is being upgraded:
zypper info --conflicts libopenssl-1_1-devel
